Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 in 1983. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of high school after her parents divorced to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. They were struggling to survive and was offered her first part in the acting world in the film Rachel's Room's leading character. The character she plays is Faith who's both the star-gazer and a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the younger sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began in the teen years with minor appearances in his films. She also appeared alongside her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, as well as Sherrybaby (a drama) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Award. After a string of commercially successful films, including World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). As a single mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After that she continued to play in comedies and dramas like Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Will Not Back Down (12). Her other roles include an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in the film Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
