Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 in 1983. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of high school after her parents divorced to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. They were struggling to survive and was offered her first part in the acting world in the film Rachel's Room's leading character. Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the younger sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began in the teen years with minor appearances in his films. She also appeared alongside her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). The leading roles of Gyllenhaal in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, as well as Sherrybaby (a drama) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Award. After a string of commercially successful films, including World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007).
